Kendrapara: Raising questions over the implementation of the 5T initiative in Healthcare service delivery, a four-year-old girl lost her life allegedly over medical negligence today.

According to sources, one Subhalaxmi from Saradaprasad village under Rajnagar block of Kendrapara was rescued from a pond and admitted to the nearest Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Dangamal. However, as per allegations, neither a doctor nor a nurse was available at the PHC to provide treatment to the girl.

Later the family members took the girl to Rajnagar Community Health Center (CHC) 40 kms away, where the doctors checked her and declared her as brought-dead.

Commenting on the poor healthcare service in the area, a local said, “It’s a shame that neither doctors nor any other employees were present there, otherwise Subhalaxmi could have been saved.”

Debabrata Giri, a relative of the deceased said, “When I reached Rajnagar CHC, she was already dead. The Rajnagar police didn’t accept our complaint and directed us to go to visit another police station.”
