Bhubaneswar: While environment pollution has become a debate over which great political leaders & policymakers are breaking their heads, a Class-X girl student has come up with an innovative solution to clean up polluted water bodies.

The young innovator has developed a remote-controlled robot can detect plastic in ponds, rivers, seas, oceans and help in cleaning the water bodies.

Speaking about her project, Tanya Das, who is currently staying and studying abroad said, "This remotely-operated vehicle can go underneath the water. This type of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) requires lot of programming."

Both Tanya and her sister have launched an initiative 'Motion for the Ocean' to fight water pollution. And to share their knowledge and spread the message, they have selected their home state Odisha. As part of their initiative, they are imparting training to students of a private school in Cuttack.

"We are training students about how such robots can be developed so that they can clean the non-biodegradable marine debris in water bodies," said Tanya's sister, Tapasya.

"Dealing with the plastic pollution in water bodies has become a challenge. This initiative is to attract students towards science, technology, engineering and Maths, and at the same time encourage them to keep the environment clean," said a young scientist, Anil Pradhan.
