Odisha Forest official accused of cheating, physically assaulting woman

Nabarangpur: A woman from Nabarangpur district has accused a Forest department official of cheating and torturing her.

According to the complaint filed by the woman, the official, who was already married, falsely identified himself as a divorcee and misrepresented his religion to tie the knot with her.

As per reports, the complainant was staying with her son after being abandoned by her husband when the accused had come forward to marry her. But after some time, the accused along with his first wife allegedly started torturing the complainant and later kicked the mother-son duo out of the house.

Subsequently, the complainant sought help from BJP Mahila Morcha demanding alimony and a house to stay.

"I was tortured by my husband and his first wife. There is threat to my life if I stay with them. So I demand maintenance and a house to live," said the complainant.

As per reports, no police case has been registered so far.

Meanwhile, no comments could be obtained from the accused government official.
