Jajpur: In a bid to lend a helping hand to the residents of Nagada, Odisha Forest Department has provided jobs to seven locals who will be roped in for the protection of forest area in the region.

As per sources, the local residents have been provided with the jobs under Vana Surakshya Scheme (VSS).

Such an initiative of the forest department is likely to play a crucial role in helping the residents of Nagada, which had become the face of malnutrition in the State, to come out of their present condition.

“We were facing problems in life but we can now hope that things will improve for us as the forest department has provided us jobs,” said a local resident.

Senior officials informed that the job opportunities have been created for the residents of Naliadaba, Upar and Tala Nagada areas in the district. Sukinda Ranger, Bipin Bihari Routray said jobs have been provided to seven locals as per their skills.

“There are lot of plans for development and protection of forest. We are keen to engage more locals in such initiatives,” said Routray.
