Dhenkanal: Three bike-borne miscreants allegedly looted Rs 43,000 cash from an employee of a private finance company after attacking him with sharp weapons on Muktapashi-Karla road near Kamakhyanagar in Dhenkanal district on Tuesday.

As per reports, Mahendra Sagar Barik, the collection agent of the finance firm was returning from Muktapashi after collecting cash from a loanee while the attack took place. The miscreants allegedly looted cash and snatched away his mobile phone by threatening him with a gun and a sharp weapon.

Barik sustained injuries while trying to resist the loot. He was immediately rushed to a hospital in critical condition.

“I had collected cash worth Rs 43,000 from a man in Muktapashi and was on my way to Kamakhyanagar when the miscreants riding a bike (OD-19-R-7919) waylaid me on the road and threatened to shoot me if I resist,” said Barik.

“They snatched away my bag containing the cash and other documents and my mobile phone. When I resisted them, they attacked me injuring my arm,” added Barik.

In a related incident of loot, miscreants snatched gold chain from a woman near post office lane under Khordha Town Police limits on Tuesday.

The miscreants are yet to be nabbed.

No comments have been received from the police in connection with both the cases.
