Sonepur: Amidst several reports of irregularities in mandis, more lapses have surfaced after some farmers in Odisha reportedly received payments twice in their bank accounts after paddy procurement.

According to reports, over 800 farmers in Sonepur district received such double transfers against their sale of paddy in the current season.

Sources said funds to the tune of nearly Rs 80 lakh has been credited from State Cooperative Bank’s Bhubaneswar branch as payments in the accounts of several farmers in the district.

“Due to some server error, double payments were made to the bank accounts of farmers,” said Sonepur district civil supplies officer, Bibekanand Korkara.
