Odisha: Fake Liquor Manufacturing Unit Busted In Berhampur, 5 Held

Berhampur: The Excise department busted a fake liquor manufacturing unit at Truptinagar under the Bada Bazaar police limits in Ganjam district on Saturday.

Acting on a tip-off, the Excise sleuths conducted a raid at the counterfeit liquor production unit and seized huge volume of liquor, spirits, fake stickers and other materials. Five persons have been arrested in connection with the conduct of the unit and they will be forwarded to the court later today, said sources.

The busting of the fake liquor unit follows a series of raids on adulterated food manufacturing units which had been sealed by the city administration earlier this year.

Earlier on January 21, the Berhampur police had busted a fake sauce manufacturing unit at Ganesh Nagar area under Bada Bazar police limits.

Police had seized a huge stock of the adulterated sauce and raw materials used in the manufacturing of the edibles.

On the same day, another unauthorised factory engaged in fake water bottling had been unearthed at Laxmi Vihar. The Bada Bazar police had conducted the raid and seized huge quantity of water bottles having levels of reputable brands.
