Odisha: Fake Cold Drink Manufacturing Unit Busted In Berhampur

Berhampur: Close on the heels of detection of a fake mineral water bottling unit, a fake cold drink manufacturing unit was busted in Berhampur in Ganjam district on Tuesday.

Huge stock of adulterated soft drink bottles were seized from the factory located at Sukunda village under Sadar Police limits. As per reports, the soft drink manufacturing unit was operating without any license.

Senior officials informed that soft drinks were being manufactured using some essence and food colours. Despite being a beverage manufacturing unit, there was no mechanism for testing of the product.

Police have also seized soft drink stock loaded in two mini-trucks and seven machines from the factory.

On Sunday, an unauthorised factory engaged in manufacture of fake mineral water bottling was unearthed in Ganjam district.

The illegal unit was operating from a house in the second lane of Laxmi Vihar. Acting on a tip-off, Bada Bazar police conducted raid and seized huge quantity of water bottles having levels of reputed brands.

The police said the unit owner was preparing water pouches and bottles without permission from the concerned authorities.

Earlier in the day, huge stock of the adulterated sauce and raw materials were also seized by Bada Bazar police seized at Ganesh Nagar area in the Silk City.
