Odisha Engineering Student Hangs Herself After Tiff With Boyfriend

Bhubaneswar: In an unfortunate turn of events, an engineering student allegedly hanged herself after her boyfriend stopped speaking with her over phone.

As per reports, the body of Jhumpa Devnath, who was studying in a private engineering college in Bhubaneswar, was recovered from her rented house on Thursday.

Though police detained Devnath's boyfriend Rahul for questioning after seizing Jhumpa's phone and diary, they released him shortly after the girl's family denied to name him as a suspect in the FIR.

One of Jhumpa's relative said, "We knew Rahul as a good lad. We had even asked him to look after our girl. Jhumpa was disturbed due to some reasons."

Commenting on the issue, Jhumpa's boyfriend Rahul said, "She called me at 11 in the morning, but I hanged up because I was feeling sleepy. I didn't know that she would take such an extreme step."
