Cuttack: In yet another incident of poll violence, at least five persons were injured in a violent clash between supporters of BJD and Congress at Brahmapura village under Banki Police limits in Cuttack district on Wednesday.

According to sources, all the injured have been admitted to Banki Sub-Divisional Hospital. Later, two persons, who sustained critical injuries in the incident, were shifted to Cuttack after their condition deteriorated.

According to reports, the supporters of both parties had entered into a verbal duel during voting in third phase polls on April 23. Later, BJD workers allegedly attacked some Congress workers.

"I was going to my shop on my bike when eight BJD supporters attacked me from behind," alleged Akshya Debata, complainant.

Banki district BJD president, Santosh Kumar Rana on the other hand refuted such allegations.

"They (Congress) are politicising the incident as two BJD workers Anil Debata and Akula Debata have been injured in the attack. Congress supporters have attacked the BJD workers and are levelling false allegations against BJD," said Rana.
