Odisha: Duplicate Sauce Manufacturing Unit Busted In Berhampur

Berhampur: In a major crackdown on the adulterated food units in the State, Berhampur police busted a fake sauce manufacturing unit at Ganesh Nagar area under Bada Bazar police limits in Ganjam district on Saturday.

Police seized a huge stock of the adulterated sauce and raw materials used in manufacturing. Acting on a tip-off, the police made a swoop at the unit and confiscated the stock of duplicate ‘chilli sauce’, ‘soya sauce and ‘tomato sauce’. Some bottles, machines used to prepare the sauce, raw materials, artificial colour and essence were also seized.

The owner of the fake manufacturing unit has been reportedly detained and his questioning is underway.

According to sources, the adulterated sauce produced in the processing unit was being circulated in various parts of the State, including the local market.

Police are investigating its supply chain and root of the illegal trade.

Earlier on January 9, a duplicate sauce manufacturing unit was busted at Kundal under Badchana police limits in Jajpur district.

In September last year, the Commissionerate Police had unearthed a major adulterated sauce manufacturing unit in Jagatpur area of Cuttack. Besides, several other spurious food processing units were busted from different places of Cuttack in the last couple of months.
