Bhubaneswar: Amid the on-going second phase of the dry run for Covid-19 vaccination in the State, Director of the Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET), Odisha, CBK Mohanty urged people to remain alert about fake apps created by fraudsters for obtaining personal information.

“Some fake apps apparently created by unscrupulous elements for tracking the Covid-19 vaccination are on app stores and the Health Ministry has also warned not to download and share personal information on such apps,” he said.

However, Mohanty added that people should not unnecessarily be worried about rumours and undergo the vaccination process by following the prescribed procedures without any fear.

“People need not be hesitant to undergo vaccination. Ensuring the safety and efficacy of the vaccine is the priority of the government. The vaccine is absolutely safe and people must not get scared for vaccination,” said Mohanty.

“Health experts have tested the vaccine minutely and we are urging everyone to get vaccinated. There is good evidence of safety in the process. So fear of any adverse effects from the vaccine must be shunned,” he exhorted adding that the government is providing the vaccine free of cost.

To allay fears, Mohanty said, “Given the opportunity, I myself will take the first dose of the vaccine in the first phase.”

“I want to take the first dose of the vaccine in the first phase itself in order to be safe from Covid-19. However, I will give preference to the safety of my colleagues first,” he said.
