Berhampur: A school teacher in Odisha has landed in Vigilance net on charges of accumulating crores worth of property disproportionate to his known sources of income.

He has been identified as Bhubanananda Sahoo, a teacher in hindi subject at Jasoda High School in Jhadankuli of Rangeilunda area.

The anti-graft officials conducted simultaneous raids at 10 places including the teacher's residence in Bhubanesar and Berhampur and traced property of around Rs 4.93 crore belonging to Sahoo.

SP, Vigilance, Berhampur Anil Kumar Patra informed mediapersons that searches conducted on the warrant of Special Judge Vigilance, Berhampur Division revealed possessions including two houses of the teacher with a combined worth of Rs 3 crore in Berhampur and an apartment worth of Rs 28 lakh in Bhubaneswar.

Raids were carried out at two houses belonging to the teacher at Baikunthanagar, a six-storeyed building which houses a coaching centre at Brahma Nagar and another one at Nimakhandi.

This apart, searches were conducted at his residence in Kalpana Square, flats at Sundarpada in Bhubaneswar and Puri and also at his ancestral house in Chikiti area of Ganjam district.
