Bhadrak: A Covid warrior, who was hired during the Covid-19 pandemic and has now been terminated, has decided on Friday to undertake a novel demonstration by walking from Bhadrak to Naveen Niwas in the State Capital.

After offering prayer at Charampa Hanuman temple, Ashwini Padhy set out on his 130km-long journey in the morning wearing PPE kits. He is hopeful of meeting Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at his residence.

“I will request the administrative officials to fix an appointment with the Chief Minister for two minutes only. I want to apprise him about the ordeal of 8,000 paramedical staff, who have been terminated by the State Government,” said Padhy.

“I am hopeful that the Chief Minister will consider my request and take necessary actions,” he added.

It is worth mentioning that earlier last week several paramedical staff in the district had resorted to the novel protest of begging in public in the city. They were begging and sloganeering in the streets demanding the State government to reinstate them.

As per reports, the State government had engaged hundreds of paramedical staff on contractual basis to join the battle against Covid-19. The official order of the Health and Family Welfare department mentioned that these engagements will be temporary– for a period of three months only– in view of the emergency situation arising due to the pandemic.
