Puri: Following a month-long rapid COVID-19 test vaccination of servitors of the Puri Shrimandir began on Wednesday.

Around 3000 servitor will undergo the vaccination in the presence of the Puri district collector SamarthVema as has been decided by the district administrations.

As per reports, the servitors will be inoculated at the Pratihari Niyog Meeting room located at the Lokanath road in Puri.

The vaccination facilities will be available only for male servitors and Shrimandir workers from different Niyogs.

As per the instructions issued by the Puri district administration, the vaccination drive will be conducted from 10am to 5pm every day.

A daily target has been fixed to vaccinate around 100 servitors, as per reports.

Priority will be given to servitors of age of 60 or above during the vaccination drive at present, followed by those in the age group of 45 or more. Those having co-morbidities like high blood pressure and diabetes are required to undergo vaccination under medical supervision.

Meanwhile, Naraya Mahapatra a servitor who was among the first group to get vaccinated on Wednesday said, “Since I am a diabetic I decided to get vaccinated in the first phase. There is no weird feeling or problem due to the vaccine.”

“I believe the vaccine will protect me from COVID-19” Mahapatra added.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Covid-19 swab test (RTPCR test) of servitors of different niyogs, office employees and outsourcing staff was conducted at the Utkal Hindi Vidyapeetha in Grand Road between January 27 and February 27 following an instruction of the SJTA.
