Bhubaneswar: As many as 386 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Odisha in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of positive cases to 322299. While 223 fresh cases are from quarantine, the rest 163 are local transmission cases, according to Odisha Health and Family Welfare Department.


Moreover, five patients succumbed to the disease during the period, pushing the total number of deaths in Odisha to 1789.

As per the Health Department data, Khordha district topped the daily positive tally in the state with 50 new cases, followed by Sundergarh with 47 positives, Angul reported 29 cases in last 24 hours.

According to the data, 2 persons succumbed to the disease in Bhubaneswar, Puri and Sambalpur reported death of one person each on December 8.

The ministry also released the details of the deceased:

  • A 74-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
  • A 49-year-old female of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
  • A 51-year-old female of Puri district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
  • A 52-year-old female of Puri district.
  • A 61-year-old female of Sambalpur district who was also suffering from Hypertension, Chronic Kidney Disease Stage-4 on MHD.

Of the total cases detected so far in the State, 316970 people have recovered while the active case count stands at 3487.
