Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported one new COVID-19 death on Monday taking the total death count in the state to 15, informed Odisha Health and Family Welfare Department.

As per the sources, the patient who died of COVID-19 was a 46-year-old male from Ganjam district.

The state also reported 143 new Coronavirus positive cases on Monday taking the toll to 5303 in the State, informed Odisha Information and Public Relations Department.

Out of the 143 cases 137 were reported from quarantine centres while 6 were local cases.

As the COVID-19 cases spiral in the state, the majority of the positive cases reported today were from Ganjam with 32 new cases.

Cuttack district follows suit with 20 new cases and stands at 2nd spot, while Khurda takes the 3rd spot with 16 number of new positive cases reported today. Nayagarh and Balasore both reported 13 cases each.

Today’s number includes two numbers of NDRF personnel who returned from West Bengal after Amphan duty.

As informed by the State I & PR Department, the State clocked 3458 RT-PCR tests in the last 24 hours.

143 persons also recuperated from COVID 19, taking the total recoveries in Odisha to 3863. A highest 18 persons recovered from COVID-19 from Gajapati, 15 each from Bargarh, Malkangiri & Puri, 12 from Bolangir & 10 from Cuttack.

Earlier on Sunday, the state reported its highest ever single day spike with 304 new positive cases spread across Odisha with two confirmed deaths.
