Aska: In a tragic incident, a couple was electrocuted after coming in contact with an 11 KV live transmission wire which has reportedly snapped at Burupada village under Hinjilicut police station here on Saturday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Bishnu Samal and his wife Hina Samal.

According to local sources, the mishap took place when the couple went to their agricultural field to pluck cauliflowers this morning. They did not notice the wire lying in the field. They both touched the wire accidentally, which led to their death on the spot.

Their son Gouda Samal rushed them to the nearby Hinjili hospital, but doctors declared them brought dead.

A case is filed under Section 174 of CrPC and police are investigating the case.

In another tragic incident on November 11, a minor boy had died while his uncle suffered critical injuries after being electrocuted by a live wire laid on the roadside to hunt wild boars near Silati village under Binika Police limits in Sonepur district. The deceased Trilochan Sathua (17) was from Salepali village under Bheden block in Bargarh district.

Similarly on August 6, a woman and her daughter had been electrocuted in Taldiha village under Badampahad Police limits of Mayurbhanj district. The deceased were identified as Banshi Kisku and her 23-year-old daughter Raimat Hembram.
