Bhubaneswar: A constable of the Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar, who was earlier arrested on charges of drugs peddling, has been dismissed from service. Bhubaneswar DCP dismissed the constable Janaki Ballabha Bharimalla following a detailed probe into the allegations on Thursday.

The accused constable, Bharimalla who is currently lodged in jail, was arrested by Nayapalli police on November 13. As per reports, Bhairmalla was accused of selling brown sugar in different parts of Bhubaneswar.

Preliminary investigations reveal that Bharimalla used to lead a lavish lifestyle and his picture of riding a high-end motorcycle had also gone viral on social media.

Notably, the accused constable was earlier arrested in 2015 in connection with a kidnapping and murder case. However, he was later acquitted due to lack of evidence following which he re-joined the service.
