Bhubaneswar: Odisha Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Narasingha Mishra has been rushed to a private hospital after he fell unconscious during a demonstration here on Monday.

As per preliminary reports, Mishra complained of chest pain soon after delivering a speech in front of the CBI office in the capital city.

Following the incident, other Congress leaders rushed Mishra to a private hospital.

"Narasingha Mishra had travelled all the way from Bolangir to attend the meeting. He is diabetic. As per the doctors, his condition is now stable," Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee President, Niranjan Patnaik.

The Congress is observing its 136th Foundation Day today and the State unit had organised a public meeting to criticise both the ruling BJD in Odisha and BJP-government at the Centre for its anti-people policies.

According to OPCC president, the Congress took out a Tiranga rally against the alleged failure of CBI in discharging its duties. Though a CBI probe was ordered into the multi-crore Chit-fund scam, the CBI failed to take any tangible action. Similarly, the investigating agency failed to make any headway in the sensational Itishree murder case, he added.

This is a developing story, more details awaited.
