Bhubaneswar: The State Higher Education Department today postponed the dates of declaration of the merit list of Common PG Entrance Test (CPET)- 2020.

In a fresh notification issued to the varsities' PG Council Chairpersons, Controller of examinations and Principals of degree colleges, the higher education department mentioned that the state-wide merit list of the PG entrance has been revised and will now be published on November 21 instead of November 16.

The applicants/students can update their graduation/equivalent marks on Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal by November 17, read the official notification issued by the Higher Education Department.

The admission process by the respective universities and colleges offering post-graduation teaching facility will be completed by December 21, the notification read, adding that no further extension of timelines shall be entertained.

Earlier, the merit list was scheduled to be announced on November 16 which has now been revised and scheduled for the 21st of this month.

This year, as many as 71,789 students have registered for the test, while 62,942 appeared in the CPET-2020 examinations which were held from October 12 to October 22.

The examination was conducted with all COVID-19 protocols and isolation rooms were also allotted to the COVID positive candidates or suspected cases.

This is for the first time that a single entrance examination was held for admissions into 14,700 post-graduate (PG) seats in different universities and colleges in Odisha.

Till last year, nearly 9 universities and 59 colleges which offered PG courses were conducting their own entrance examinations for admissions. However, the new system brought all the universities and colleges to a single platform.

The students had to apply for nearly seven to eight colleges and visit their respective campuses for appearing the entrance exam which was an expensive and tiring process. On several occasions, many students missed the exam if the PG entrance exam of two colleges or universities were scheduled on the same date.
