Sundergarh: What comes to your mind when someone says library? For most of us it will be a huge hall with columns of books. But defying the conventional idea of a library, Sundergarh collector Nikhil Pawan Kalyan has opened a ‘Bahi Bagicha (book garden)', a library set up in a garden on the premises of his residence.

From poetry books to comics to classic literature, people can read works of famous writers and poets at the ‘Bahi Bagicha’ which was thrown open to all by the Collector on Sunday.

“This concept is out of the box and nobody thought of it before. It is like gaining wealth out of waste,” said sister P Selvie of St. Teresa English School in Sundergarh.

A young writer Bibidh Biswa praised the initiative and said, “The collector has spread a very good message by throwing open such a library to all.”

The library will remain open for visitors every Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. In case of increase in number of visitors, the library timings will be modified in the future.

“Some days back we started Bahi Padha (book reading) programme and this initiative is part of this. We want to encourage people to read books. If required we will keep this library open for all every day,” said the Collector.
