Odisha CM Appoints 10-Member Advisory Team For SCB Transformation

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to transform SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack into a world class healthcare institution, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today appointed a group of eminent doctors in an advisory team for suggesting necessary advice for the makeover project.

The panel has been appointed as part of the 5T initiative of the government. The transformational project is aimed at providing world class health facilities accessible to people of Odisha, said a release issued by the CMO.

According to the statement, seven out of the 10 members of the team are Padma awardees while three others are Alumni of SCB.

While Padma Bhusan awardees Dr Ramakanta Panda, Dr Devi Shetty and Dr K Srinath Reddy have been appointed as the member of the team, Padma Shree awardees Prof. (Dr) Subrat Acharya, Prof. (Dr) Mukut Minz, Prof. (Dr) Digambar Behera and Dr Rajan Badwe are also named members.

Similarly, Dr Jagat Narula, Dr G N Rao and Prof.(Dr) Purna Chandra Mohapatra, who are alumni of SCB have also been included in the advisory team.

Prof (Dr) CBK Mohanty, Director Medical Education and Training (DMET), Odisha will be the Member-Convenor of the consultative team, the CMO release said.

Meanwhile, Dr Purna Chandra Mohapatra expressed happiness for his inclusion in the 10-member advisory team and said it a big responsibility vested upon him.

“SCB Medical is my alma mater. I studied here and also taught here for four decades. I feel very happy that the State government has envisaged to transform the SCB Medical into a world class institution,” said Dr Purna Chandra Mohapatra.

“It is indeed a big responsibility vested upon me by the Odisha government and I will certainly try my best to transformation of SCB,” he added.

Notably, the State government has launched a massive eviction drive since January to pave the way for redevelopment of the SCB hospital. Rehabilitation package has also been announced for persons, families and commercial units to be affected by the mega expansion project in the Millennium City.
