Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday announced a package of Rs 155 crore for the development of Balasore Municipality.

“I am announcing a package worth Rs 155 crore for the development of several projects under the Balasore Municipality,” said Patnaik adding that all the project works will begin soon on priority basis.

The package includes Rs 70 crore for the six-laning and street lighting of the road between Tumilia gate flyover to Station Chhak while Rs 53 crore for the beautification and development of Budhabalanga river.

These apart, the package includes development of all ponds, roads and drains under the Municipality area along with expansion of Sahadevkhunta bus stand at Rs 8 crore and Rs 14 crore for multipurpose indoor hall, swimming pool and sports infrastructure.

Earlier today, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian and Secretary (Works) Krishan Kumar visited Balasore to take a stock of the various projects in the district.

Rs 70 crore for 6-lane Tamulia-Station Chhak road & beautification
Rs 14 crore for multi-purpose indoor hall & swimming pool
Rs 53 crore for Budhabalanga protection & beautification
Rs 7 crore for improvement of drainage system
Renovation of six heritage ponds in Balasore town

Meanwhile, construction works of a hospital building for FM Medical College at Rs 275 crore is already under process.
