Kamakhyanagar: Around 25 passengers escaped an accident narrowly after a bus in which they were travelling overturned near Alutuma bridge here in Dhenkanal district on the wee hours of Thursday.

One of the passengers has sustained injuries and has been admitted to a nearby hospital.

The Bus, 'Sriramji' carrying around 25 passengers was heading towards Balasore from Rourkela. The driver of the vehicle lost control while trying to avert a head-on collision with a truck coming from opposite direction. The bus skidded off the road and overturned.

Local people informed the police and rescued the passengers. Police launched an investigation into the circumstances that led to the mishap. The driver of the bus is being questioned, officials said.

On Wednesday, two persons were critically injured while several others sustained minor injuries in a similar mishap that took place at Amapani ghat in Kalahandi district.
