Bhubaneswar: With the annual Plus II examination in Odisha scheduled to begin on March 3, the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), the conducting body of the exams has decided to publish the results of all four steams on same day this year.

The CHSE has already initiated process to ensure that the results of all steams of Plus II-Arts, Commence, Science and Vocational- are declared by May this year. The board has taken the decision with an aim to provide enough time to students to make right career choice.

According to sources, the results of various streams of CBSE and ICSE are declared on same day which helps students in much better way to select most preferred career choices. However, almost every year, there is a delay in announcement of results by the CHSE either due to high number of students appearing for the examinations under the board or other issues like protest by teachers.

Speaking in this regard, CHSE chairman Amarendra Patnaik said, "We are trying to declare results of all streams on same day in May. We will convert the mark foils into OMR which will help us upload the documents online in less time and announce the results early."

The students who are all set to appear for the annual examinations have welcomed the decision and termed it a praiseworthy step.

Monalisha Patra, a student, said, “If results are declared on same day, it will help us fill up forms for higher studies. Those who are preparing for various entrance tests will also get benefitted. It is certainly a laudable step and government should go with it.”

Anjali Patra, a guardian, said, “If the results are declared on same day, students will no longer complain that they could not get enough time to apply for admission in other institutions. It will ease the mental burden of students as well as their guardians.”

Educationists also feel that if the officials of the board show willingness there will not be any difficulty in announcing the results on same day.

“If the CHSE make efforts and officials show willingness, the results of all four streams can be declared on the same day and in fact it will be extremely beneficial for the students' careers," said Educationist Kamal Prasad Mohapatra.
