Odisha CB detains one in connection with 1000 kg of explosives seized in Kolkata

Balasore: The Odisha Crime Branch’s Special Task Force (STF) today detained a person from Balasore district in connection with the seizure of 1000 kg of explosive materials by Kolkata STF on Saturday.

While interrogation of the arrested accused, the dealer revealed that he was illegally transporting the explosives from Andhra Pradesh to an illegal cracker unit in Kolkata. He also admitted that he had also transported such explosives on several earlier occasions, said sources.

Both the Kolkata and Odisha STF are coordinating the investigation in the case to find out the actual reason behind the transport and use of such huge amount of explosives.

On Saturday, the Kolkata STF reportedly intercepted a vehicle in Kolkata and seized 27 gunny bags containing about 1,000 kg of explosive substance (potassium nitrate). They also arrested two youths of Odisha in connection with the incident.
