Odisha: Bus Falls Off Ghat In Kandhamal, 1 Killed

Baliguda: A man was killed and six others injured some of them critically, when a bus they were travelling in fell off a ghat at Petarabadi under Daringbadi police station here in Kandhamal district on Saturday.

The bus was enroute to Ranipanga from Daringbadi in the district when the mishap took place.  The driver lost control over the wheel following brake failure. The incident occurred while the driver was negotiating a curve. The bus skidded off road and turned turtle.

“I was trying to stop the vehicle, but failed due to sudden brake down leading to the accident,” Ignesh Pradhan, driver of the bus said.

Seven passengers including the driver sustained injuries. They were rushed to Daringbadi health centre where one among the critically injured was declared dead.

Condition of some of the passengers is stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, police rushed to the spot and started investigation into the cause of mishap.
