Bhubaneswar: In what could give a new lease of life to five-year-old Kanha from Ganjam district suffering from a rare disease of excess hair and flesh growth on his body, doctors diagnosing him today said that a recuperative surgery will be performed on his body.

The development comes a day after OTV telecast the plight of Kanha suffering from a rare disorder called ‘Werewolf Syndrome’.

Raju Das, Head of the Department (HOD) of Plastic Surgery at the Berhampur MKCG Medical College and Hospital informed that a preliminary laser and skin grafting surgery will be performed on the boy on Thursday.

Currently, Kanha is under treatment at the department after Bhanjanagar Sub-collector made all necessary arrangements for his diagnosis.

Born to Mamata and Ramachandra Naik of Gayaganda village under Jagannath Prasad block in Ganjam, Kanha has been suffering from a kind of genetic skin disorder leading to excessive hair growth and development of excess flab of flesh covering his entire face and most parts of his upper torso along with parts of legs.

So far, doctors have ruled out any possibility of complete cure from the disease. Kanha has been suffering from the disorder right from his birth and doctors believe it could be due to a disorder in DNA configuration.
