Bhubaneswar/ Rourkela: An Odisha-born woman has achieved a rare feat in the automobile industry through her new innovation of Electric Vehicle (EV).

Meet Madhumita Agarwal, hailing from Rourkela has become the first woman entrepreneur who successfully set up an EV Manufacturing Company in Bengaluru, OBEN EV.

According to sources, Madhumita and her team are most likely to manufacture the vehicle by the end of April. She claimed that her own manufactured vehicle would give a mileage of 130 km per charge.

She said she is working in a direction to multiply the production of such vehicles due to a surge in demand so that it would be affordable to all. Her vehicles and body parts will be completely home-manifactured and will be rolled out under 'Made in India' tag.

A graduate in Biotechnology from Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Rourkela, Madhumita had also received a Law degree from Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law of IIT-Kharagpur.

After graduating from the IIT, she had set up a a consulting firm focusing on innovation and technology- IPexcel in 2016, which now has 1,500 customers all across the world. During her work for the IPexcel, she enrolled herself in IIM, Bangalore and successfully completed her MBA degree.

Before venturing into the EV manufacturing sector, she had toiled hard to understand the need of the Indian market for which she took around four years to make a study.

During her research on the Indian market, she found two crucial problems- one is need for vehicle at affordable cost and issues related to charging infrastructure.
She is currently working to resolve these issues.
