Bolangir: The bodies of two sisters, who allegedly had jumped into Tel river in Bolangir district two days back, were recovered from two different spots on Saturday.

It was alleged that both the girls, identified as daughters of Ramatar Agarwal, had jumped into the river for reasons unknown on October 15.

While the body of Ramatar’s elder daughter Anmol was found from Mahanadi ghat at Janhapa area of Boudh district, the younger daughter Anchal’s body was found at Badatenda river shore in Sonepur district today morning.

Though a massive search operation was launched for several hours by Odisha Fire Services Personnel, the bodies were recovered today almost after 48 hours of the incident.

Earlier, the scooter and two pair of shoes of both the deceased siblings were recovered from Tel River bridge at Tushura.

“We have recovered both the bodies and sent for post-mortem. It appears that the girls died after jumping into the river and further investigation is underway,” said Srimanka Barik, Bolangir Sadar SDPO.
