Odisha: BJP Leader Murdered In Cuttack's Salipur

Salipur: A local BJP leader was allegedly murdered by unidentified assailants here near Jankoti in Cuttack district on Saturday evening.

The deceased identified as Kulamani Barala, BJP's Mandal Prabhari of Salipur and former block chairman of Mahanga was returning to home on bike. Some miscreants reportedly attacked him near Jankoti with weapons leaving him critically injured. Later, he was immediately shifted to Mahanga Community Health Centre (CHC) where doctors declared him dead.

Another associate of the slain BJP leader who accompanied him to his home also faced the wrath of the attackers. He is critically injured and has been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, informed PK Jena, additional district Superintendent of Police.

"A team of police has already launched investigation. Adequate forces have also been mobilised to the village of the slain BJP leader to avoid any untoward situation. Our top priority is to arrest the accused as early as possible and we are working accordingly," Jena added.

A local BJP leader said “Kulamani Babu is a very popular and warm leader. His contributions for Mahanga Block are unforgettable. The attack on him has clearly exposed the law and order situation in the region. I don't want to raise the names who are involved in the ghastly crime. Because, everybody knows them well. I condemned such dastardly attack on a popular leader and saddened deeply by the untimely passing away of one of my close leaders of our area.”

"I demand immediate arrest of the criminals and stringent punishment as per law", he added.
