Odisha: BJP, BJD Locked In Twitter War
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha unit of BJP and the BJD went into a twitter war once again over alleged disregard to former CM of the State, Biju Patnaik in Mayurbhanj.
Sources said some leaders of both the parties exchanged heated arguments at the ‘Disha’ meeting in Baripada on Tuesday over putting of stickers mentioning ‘Biju Pucca Ghara’ on the wall of a house which was constructed under PM Awas Yojana.
After the incident, BJD MLA Pranab Prakash Das took to his twitter account to take on BJP. Das stated “I condemn the way Zilla Parishad Chairperson Sujata Murmu disrespecting legendary Biju Babu at the Disha meeting in Baripada. Insulting Biju Babu who had fought for the rights of Odia community and contributed greatly to the freedom struggle, is an insult to the entire Odia community too.”
Reacting to Das’ comments, BJP State general secretary Lekhashree Samantsinghar fired salvo on the ruling party and said that BJD engaged contract goons to misbehave with the tribal women in Mayurbhanj in the name of respecting Biju Babu.
“BJD hired goons to misbehave with the tribal women and ignore the eminent personalities of Odisha like Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanjadeo, Bhanj Veer Sunaram Soren, Pandit Raghunath Murmu on the pre-text of giving respect to Biju Babu. It is very unfortunate and a matter of shame. BJD is becoming vindictive when its corruption is exposed.”
Samantsinghar’s party colleague Tankadhar Tripathy also joined her in slamming the BJD on his twitter page. Tripathy, in his reply, stated that BJD is doing politics in the name of Biju Patnaik. The regional party should first learn on how to respect women, he said.
“A senior woman leader was insulted when she demanded due respect to Sriram Chandra Bhanjadeo, Maharaja Purnachandra Bhanjadeo and Pandit Raghunath Murmu. Is it BJD’s ‘Maa Ku Samman’ (respect to women)? The party should first learn on how to respect women”, tweeted Tripathy.
