Sonepur: Nearly eight months on the run, the prime accused in the triple murder case that took place in Binika of Sonepur district in July, 2020 has been arrested from Lalitpur in Uttar Pradesh.

The accused identified as Papu Sen was carrying a cash reward of Rs 25,000 on his head in connection with another murder case in Uttar Pradesh, Lalitpur (UP) SP Pramod Kumar said.

“He had murdered one Raghunandan Bed in Lalitpur of Uttar Pradesh. Since then, he was on the run. After murdering Raghunandan, he had gone to his in-laws in Odisha, where he had also killed his father-in-law, mother-in-law and brother-in-law over some family dispute. A case had been also lodged at Binika police station,” said Pramod Kumar, superintendent of Police (SP), Lalitpur (UP).

“We have apprised the Odisha police regarding the arrest. They will also take him on remand for further investigation,” Kumar added.

In July, 2020 Sen had killed his father-in-law Bulu Bhoi (65), mother-in-law Baidehi Bhoi (55) and brother-in-law Shiva Bhoi (25).

Shiva’s body had been recovered outside the house while two others’ bodies were found lying in a pool of blood inside the house.

He had hacked the trio to death with an axe.

Sources said Sen’s wife had an extra martial relationship with her lover. She had also eloped with him which had irked Sen.
