Balasore: With around three months left for the matriculation examinations in the State, the first batch of 12,000 ‘Pariksha Darpan' books were delivered at the district education office on January 30 for distribution among standard 10 students who will be appearing for the tests in May.
Officials in the district education office said that a decision had been taken to distribute a total of 36,720 copies of the book among students sitting for the upcoming matriculation or the high school certificate (HSC) examination this year.
An official at the District Educational Office said that the remaining 24,720 books will be received by February 12. “The book will be made available to all aspirants for preparation for the examination as promised by the School and Mass Education Minister Sameer Ranjan Dash,” the official said.
It is worth mentioning here that the long closure of schools on account of the COVID-19 situation had resulted in fear and frustration among students as they were apprehensive about the modalities for the important examination in their career.
Earlier on 27th January, the Odisha government had released ‘Pariksha Darpana’ a 700 page guide to be provided to students who will appear the upcoming High School Certificate (HSC) examination free of cost.
Meanwhile, speaking to reporters, a teacher from a school in the district said, “The Pariksha Darpana guide book is up to the mark and follows the current MCQ pattern. It also has the long answer type questions which will help students in fetching good marks. It will prove productive and advantageous for the students.”
With the introduction of Pariksha Darpan the government aims at benefiting around 6.5 lakh students as the guide is likely to help them prepare for the crucial board examination in a short time. The state government had said that the decision to introduce the reference book was taken by the School of Mass Education department following the directive of the Chief Minister to reduce the stress among students.
