Bhubaneswar: Five days ahead of the schedule, Odisha Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro on Saturday declared the House sine die. The first session of the 16th Assembly commenced on June 25 and it was scheduled to continue till August 8.

Odisha State Open University (Amendment) Bill, 2019 was passed on the last day. The Bill authorises the State government to provide assistance to universities.

The annual budget for 2019-20 fiscal was also passed in the House on July 31. Besides, Appropriation Bill, 2019 and Special Appropriation Bill were also earlier passed in the House.

After the declaration of sine die, Congress MLA Narasingha Mishra expressed his satisfaction over the proceedings of the Assembly and said, 'some new and young members are now in the Assembly and they are doing well'.

Several bills were passed in the House and the Opposition carried out their responsibilities well, said BJD's Pramila Mallick.
