Bhubaneswar: Odisha Assembly Speaker Pradip Amat adjourned the proceedings of the Odisha Assembly till tomorrow with Congress members creating pandemonium over the issues of farmers today soon after the session began.

After the condolence motion was moved, the Congress members rushed to the well of the House and demanded discussion on an adjournment notice on farmers cancelling the Question Hour. They shouted slogans leading to the first adjournment till 12:14 pm. Later when the House reassembled, the pandemonium continued forcing the Speaker to adjourn the proceedings till tomorrow.

Commenting on the adjournment, Leader of Opposition said, "Due to the importance of the adjournment motion, the Congress members demanded cancellation of the Question Hour. Had there been a discussion in the traditional manner, the gravity of the issue would have lost."

He further added the government has managed to foil farmers' agitation terming it as 'murder of democracy'.

Earlier, a condolence motion was moved by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to pay tributes to the departed leaders, jawan and journalist. While Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra and BJP legislature party leader KV Singhdeo also paid obituary to the departed souls. The Speaker described the losses irreparable after which a minute silence was observed in the House.

The House paid tributes to late Prasanna Kumar Pal, ex-government deputy chief whip; late Bansidhara Sahu ex-member of the House; late Champeswar Mahakud former jawan of 21 Assam Rifles; late Brajamohan Behera, ex CRPF driver and Achuytanand Sahu, former cameraman of Doordarshan.
