Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced an assistance package for the farmers of drought-hit districts who have suffered crop loss of more than 33 percent.

As per the announcement, agriculture input subsidy will be provided to small and marginal farmers at Rs 6,800 per hectare for non-irrigated land, Rs 13,500 per hectare for land in areas under assured irrigation and Rs 18,000 for perennial crops.

The agriculture input subsidy will also be provided to farmers subject to a ceiling of two hectares per farmer.

Official sources said 1 lakh pulse mini kits, 30,000 oilseed mini kits and 20,000 vegetable mini kits will be supplied to the affected farmers for the Rabi season 2018-19.

3,000 pump sets shall also be provided at 50 percent subsidy limited to a maximum of Rs 15,000 and 1,000 solar pump sets will also be made available to the affected farmers at 90 percent subsidy limited to Rs 54,000 per pump set under Saura Jalanidhi scheme.

Moreover, the agriculture officials have been directed to arrange and distribute quality seeds in sufficient quantities for alternate crops in Rabi season.
