Odisha: Absconding Accused In Divyang Girl Rape Case Nabbed

Jagatsinghpur: A youth accused of raping and impregnating a divyang girl in Kujang area of Jagatsinghpur district was arrested by police on Saturday.

The accused Sili Majhi was reportedly absconding for the past two months after committing the crime.

After his arrest, police produced Majhi before the judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) court, Kujang. He was sent to judicial custody after the court rejected his bail petition.

According to sources, the victim's family members had lodged a complaint with the local police after learning about her pregnancy. They had also moved the Orissa High Court seeking justice.

Taking up the case for hearing, the court had ordered to pay Rs 3 lakh compensation to the victim in case she gives birth to a boy and Rs 5 lakh if she delivers a girl child.
