Bhubaneswar: In its earlier order regarding 14-day statewide lockdown starting from Wednesday, the Odisha government has made slight modification allowing all Aahara centres in the State to operate.

However, only takeaways will be permitted and no dine-ins will be allowed, a notification issued by the Special Relief Commissioner stated.

Similarly, Central government institutes like IITs and IIMs will be allowed to operate their hostels.

“All Aahara Kendras in the State will remain open for only takeaway. Institutions of Government of India like IITs and IIMs and others are allowed to keep their hostels open with strict adherence to covid safety protocols,” the notification read.

All the activities relating to Pipili By election are permitted as per instructions/guidelines issued by ECI, GoI/ CEO odisha, the notification added.

It is pertinent to mention here that, the Aahar centres had remained closed during the lockdown last year.

The Odisha government on Sunday had announced a lockdown in the state as Covid-19 cases continue to rise sharply. The lockdown will remain in force with effect from May 5 till May 19, 2021.

Meanwhile, the SRC PK Jena appealed to the people to avoid panic buying as the state has a stock of adequate amount of essential food items.
