Malkangiri: A serious allegation of police brutality has come to light in Malkangiri district. The personnel of Chitrakonda police station in the district allegedly thrashed and gave electric shock to four minor boys arrested on charges of burglary.

According to sources, the police had taken the four boys to the police station on February 12 in connection with a robbery case. The four were allegedly subjected to brutal torture in the custody for the next three days and also given electric shock.

The police forwarded them to court after the custodial torture, alleged the family members of the minor boys. The family members tried to meet the SP in this regard, but could not, they further alleged.

"Of the minors, two of them are aged 13 years while one is 15 years and another is 16 years old. The policemen thrashed them mercilessly and gave electric shock. Due to the inhumane torture, they were bleeding from nose and mouth," alleged Muni Bag, a resident of Chitrakonda.

However, Chitrakonda police station IIC, Surya Prakash Nayak dismissed the allegations.

"The four committed burglary in the house of a home guard when his family was away in Sambalpur on the medical ground on February 12. After investigation, we identified the four boys. There is not one iota of truth in the allegations," Nayak said.
