Paradip: As many as 14 staff of a ship anchored at Paradip port tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday.

All of the infected persons have been shifted from Paradip to a Covid hospital in Bhubaneswar.

According to reports, a total of 25 people had reached the port in the ship which had last anchored at Tuticorin Port in Tamil Nadu following a voyage across several countries in the costal shipping range.

According to the Covid-19 protocol all the staff of the ship submitted a self declaration form following which 14 of them were found symptomatic. A special team of doctors conducted a RTPCR test of all the staff and reports of 14 of them turned out to be positive.

According to port sources, the remaining staff of the ship have been kept in isolation and a strong vigil has been kept on them. The ship has been sanitised.

Earlier on the day, as many as 10 students had tested positive for the Covid-19 at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar.

Similarly, over 20 students had tested positive for the virus at Allen Institute following which Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) sealed the campus. Public entry into the campus has been restricted. All the patients have been put under quarantine.
