Nayagarh: Police have arrested 14 people here on Monday for allegedly launching a group attack on a man, whose five-year daughter was allegedly abducted and killed recently.

The victim has been identified as Ashok Sahu of Jadupur village in the district.

According to reports, a group of miscreants assaulted Ashok on October 26 leaving him severely injured. He was later admitted to a hospital.

However shockingly, the miscreants launched an attack on Ashok again while he was undergoing treatment in the hospital.

The victim lodged an FIR at Nayagarh Police station following which the Sadar Police arrested 14 people in connection with the matter. The Town police too nabbed two miscreants involved in the deadly attack.

“The miscreants attacked us several times. We informed about it to the police, but no action was taken. We also appealed the High Court to give us protection, but got no response. Our life is in danger, but police is silent and unresponsive,” rued Ashok’s wife.

It is worth mentioning that nothing has been revealed regarding the death case of Ashok's daughter Pari so far.

“We have arrested 14 persons from Jadupur village. We are probing if the incident is related with the death of the victim's daughter,” stated Nayagarh sub divisional police officer Niranjan Padhy.
