Jajpur: At least 13 persons have been detained in connection with the torching of two police vehicles during a group clash at Panasudha village in Jajpur district last night.
A police team raided the village which falls under Balichandrapur police limits late in the night and picked up 13 villagers for their alleged involvement in the arson.

According to sources, a clash broke between two groups of people at Panasudha village over the claiming of a podium for ‘Astaprahari’ rituals last night. On being informed, a police team from Balichandrapur police station rushed to the village.
When the policemen reached the village and intervened to stop the clash, irate villagers set two police vans on fire. Though fire fighters reached the spot, the police vehicles were reduced to ashes in the flame.
Tension prevailed in the village after the incident. One platoon of police force is deployed at the village to thwart further untoward incident.
