Puri: The family members of a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel from Odisha, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances while on duty in New Delhi on May 31, cried foul play behind the death stating that the jawan had no reason to take the extreme step.

Hailing from Mathasahi under Satyabadi block of Puri district, the deceased CISF personnel Amar Kumar Nayak was posted in Delhi unit.

As per CISF authorities, Amar was on duty on the fateful day when he allegedly shot himself to death with his service revolver and was eventually found lying dead in a pool of blood by his colleagues.

Later, Amar’s body was brought to his native village by the CISF yesterday following which last rites of Amar were conducted at Swargadwar in Puri Town by his family members.

Amar’s family refused to accept that he had committed suicide and said that he was recently transferred to Odisha. They added that he had sent Savitri Brata gifts and money for his sister and therefore, he had no reason to commit suicide.

“We haven’t received any reports regarding the cause of his death. They (CISF authorities in New Delhi) are saying that he committed suicide by shooting himself,” said Amar’s relative, Surya Patnaik.
