Odia actor Usasi meets DGP, demands immediate arrest of main culprits

Bhubaneswar: Popular Odia film and opera actress Usasi Misra today met DGP RP Sharma and requested him to expedite investigation and arrest the culprits who allegedly molested her during a jatra performance at Derang in Angul district on the night of April 22.Usasi was accompanied by some members of Cine Critics Association.

"Although seven days have passed, only a driver has been arrested. No other accused have been nabbed yet. The DGP has assured me of action at the earliest," Usasi told reporters after the meeting.

It may be noted that on April 23 Usasi had filed a complaint at the Kaniha police station against one Indramani Sahu and his two sons of assaulting her at Dereng village in Angul district where she had gone to perform in an Opera organized by the Eastern Blue Opera. Based on the complaint, police had arrested Sahu's driver.

Later on April 25, the actress, in a press conference had blamed police for inaction. She also accused the Jatra management for failure to provide her security during the show.

The very next day, Sahu filed a counter FIR at the Talcher SDJM court against Usasi accusing her of manhandling him and issuing death threat.
