Cuttack: Odisha Panthers beat Odisha Pumas by nine wickets in the inaugural match of Odisha Cricket League (OCL) T20 at Barabati Stadium here on Sunday.

Batting first, Pumas scored 141 runs with the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Chasing the target, Panthers achieved the target in 15.3 overs with the loss of one wicket. Pradeep K Pradhan (4-0-20-4) was adjudged Man of the Match for his splendid bowling performance.

The second match of the day was played between Odisha Cheetahs and Odisha Tigers.

Six teams are participating in the tournament which will be played till January 14.

Debashish Mohanty, who has been appointed national selector to Indian Cricket Team inaugurated the event and motivated all the players.

“As cricketing activities remained suspended in the State for eight to nine months due to Covid-19 pandemic, it is definitely a great platform for the players to showcase their talents,” Mohanty said during the occasion.

The matches were held in a biosecure bubble and without spectators in strict adherence of COVID guidelines.

The matches of the OCL T-20 will be live-streamed through over the top app (OTT) FANCODE.
