Notorious criminal injured in police encounter

Bhubaneswar: Notorious criminal Sajjan Khan aka Patu sustained bullet injuries on his leg in a police encounter at Khandagiri area late on Wednesday night.

According to police sources, a special team of Commissionerate Police found Khan from Khandagiri area. When they tried to nab him, Khan opened three rounds of bullet at the police team.

In reply, the special team fired two rounds of bullets at Khan in which he sustained bullet injuries on his leg, police sources said.

Injured Khan was at first admitted to Capital Hospital and later shifted to a private hospital, police sources added.

Earlier, police had arrested Khan on charges of firing during a loot at Bhimatangi and lodged him at Jharapada jail. But, he managed to flee while undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital. Since then police was in search of Khan
