Cuttack: The Orissa High Court has issued a notification mentioning that normal functioning of the HC shall continue to remain suspended till October 9, 2020. The stay orders which were passed earlier will be in force.

However, the functioning of the Subordinate Courts and Tribunals shall continue as per the arrangement made in the order dated August 21 until further orders.

It was earlier notified that the High Court shall have restricted functioning by virtual mode/video conferencing. But the lower courts/ subordinate courts or tribunals across the State resumed their functions on working days as per usual official timings, except at places where lockdown/shutdown is imposed or containment zone is declared by the competent authority. Notably, the restrictions were lifted following Centre’s unlock guidelines for September.

In places where internet connection is poor or places experiencing some technical snags, the proceedings can be done in the court premises by following all COVID-19 norms, the directive had said, adding that, a witness or accused must not be forced to appear before the court unless required.

Filing of new cases/counter affidavit etc. shall be permitted only by e-filing mode, email or drop box, the notification issued by the High Court Registry mentioned.
