Berhampur: BJP Odisha in-charge and former union minister D Purandeswari has once again lashed out at the Naveen-led BJD government in the State over its alleged failure to ensure delivery of hassle-free public services despite being in power for more than two decades.

During her visit to Berhampur and other assembly segments in Ganjam district on Saturday, the senior leader discussed ways with the party workers to strengthen grassroots. To come to power and be the number one across States, party members should work with dedication and true spirit, and that is what will reflect PM's vision towards country’s and state’s prosperity, Purandeswari says.

Addressing a presser at the silk city, the former union minister said, “We believe BJP is quite different from rest of the political parties. Why it is not alike is because we want to come to power, true, but it is never to dictate the people rather we want to serve them for progress of the nation.”

"Ever since the Modi-led government came to power, several welfare schemes have been launched for the poor which is why people have complete faith in PM Modi and have blessed the party. In the last six years, many historic blunders have been corrected and the foundation of a self-reliant India has ensured country is on road to development," the BJP leader stated.

Launching a scathing attack on CM Naveen for allegedly failing to keep his poll promises, she said, “If one lays focus on the situation in Odisha, with full clarity we can say that there is no trace of development here. The BJD is in power for the last two decades but people now have realised that the party has failed to keep its promises. During my visit to several districts, when I had communicated with the locals, I learnt that even basic amenities are distant dreams for many. People in CM Naveen Patnaik’s assembly constituency Hinjili are reeling under severe drinking water crisis and lack of health care facilities in the region.”

“In Bhanjanagar, Minister Bikram Arukh’s constituency, it is alleged that PMAY scheme benefits are extended to BJD leaders while many of the actual beneficiaries have been left out,” Purandeswari stated, reiterating that BJD is hijacking all Central schemes.

Response of the BJD could not be obtained.
